Barnstable County Fair 2009
Barnstable County Fair is Cape Cod’s own Fair, a family tradition for 165 years. There are animal shows, 4H demonstrations, horticulture displays, rides and games, live music, arts and crafts, food and commercial vendors with various products for sale.

- Barnstable County Agricultural Society, Inc. is a non-profit
501-C3 organization and recieves no state or local funding
- The Fair was established in 1844
- The Society gives out $35,000 in scholarships
- The Society spends in excess of $120,000 a year with local
businesses
- No Officer, Director, or Board Member receives any salary
- The Society pays the Town of Falmouth over $80,000 a year
for public services
- Our Grounds and Parking Department employs local teenagers
to work before, during, and after the Fair. For many, this is
their first job!
- The Society donates over $15,000 to local groups
- The Society expends over $4,200 for hotel rooms during the 9
day Fair
- The Society has 4 full time and 1 part time employee with
salaries totaling $145,000
- The Police and Security bill for 2008 was $120,000
- The Fire Department bill for 2008 was $18,000
- The Entertainment budget for 2008 was $195,000
